Suspect in Marawi businesswoman slay nabbed in CamSur

The suspect in the killing of a 25-year-old businesswoman from Marawi City was arrested in a follow-up operation by the Pasig City Police in Camarines Sur province on Thursday morning.

Eastern Police District director Chief Supt. Reynaldo Biay and  chief Senior Supt. Orlando Yebra Jr., of Pasig City Police, presented to the media Abner Querubin, 31, a fruit stand helper at the Pasig Mega market—the main suspect in the killing of Sohiama Macarumpir, 25, last May 19.

Biay said Querubin was arrested while waiting for his live-in partner Elsa de Silva at a bus terminal at Barangay May-Ogob, Ocampo, Camarines Sur around 6:30 am.

De Silva earlier sought the assistance of the police through her neighbor and Pasig City Councilor Rodrigo Asilo.

De Silva earlier told probers the suspect was in Camarines Sur to hide, and was waiting for her to join him. —JODEE A. AGONCILLO
