The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is checking if Filipinos were injured after a shooting incident inside a local high school in the southeastern city of Santa Fe in Texas.
“The Consulate General is checking with members of the Filipino Community to check if there were any Filipinos among the casualties,” DFA said in a statement on Saturday.
DFA said about 1,994 Filipinos reside in Galveston County where Santa Fe is located.
Initial reports from the New York Times said 10 people were killed and 10 others were injured after a 17-year old student opened fire at his schoolmates, using a shotgun and a caliber .38 revolver. /vvp
