Perhaps the supposed “endorsement” from the top official of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) was not enough.
Eduardo Gavino, who ran for the top post at Barangay Santa Lucia, Pasig City, was defeated by the incumbent chair, Elpidio Bunag, in Monday’s elections.
Although the official tally of votes had yet to be transmitted to the city’s Commission on Elections office at press time, Election Assistant II Edgar San Buenaventura confirmed Bunag’s victory.
Gavino was earlier thrust into the spotlight after he used his photo with MMDA chair Danny Lim in his campaign posters.
It showed Lim raising Gavino’s left hand, with the MMDA logo in the background.
Lim, however, denied endorsing Gavino and said the photo was part of the courtesy he extended to those visiting his office, whether they be VIPs or ordinary folk. —Jhesset O. Enano
