No failure of election was reported in any place in the 2018 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Tuesday.

In a press briefing, Comelec Commissioner Sheriff Abas said that they were 100-percent confident to report that no failure was reported in any local office of the polling body.

“We don’t have any failure of elections,” he said. “We held elections in 100 percent of precincts.”

“While there was a delay in the precinct in Northern Samar, they actually held elections,” he added.

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez noted that this was in contrast to the 2013 village polls where 130 failures of election were reported.

Meanwhile, acting Comelec Chairman Al Parreño said that, as of 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 99.81 percent of all 42,044 villages in the country had finished polling and proclaimed their respective winning candidates.

“We’re almost done,” Parreño said. “Konting-konti na lang. Many of the barangays are huge, especially in NCR [National Capital Region].” /atm
