Driver collared for vote buying in Taguig

A man was arrested in Taguig City on May 14, 2018, for allegedly offering P1,000 to a voter in the 2018 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections. INQUIRER.NET / CENON BIBE JR.

Authorities on Monday arrested a man suspected of buying votes in Barangay (village) Upper Bicutan in Taguig City.

In a police report, officers from Taguig City Police Community Precinct 2 arrested Teofilo Banares Jr. for offering P1,000 to vote for Primo Quinsio, a candidate for barangay councilor.

The police said Banares, a 42-year old driver, approached complainant Reynaldo Tumaca and offered money in exchange of his vote for Quinisio.

Banares is facing a charge of violating Batas Pambansa 811 or the Omnibus Election Code. /cbb
