The Commission on Elections (Comelec) expects a seamless opening of polling precincts across the country for the 2018 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.
In a press briefing on Monday, election day, Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said there was no report of any possible postponement of any polling precinct in the country.
“Ayon sa ating command center, wala pa namang naire-report na posibleng ma-postpone na opening (ng polling precinct). We’re still all green across the board,” Jimenez told reporters.
All polling precincts were scheduled to open at 7 a.m., while the cut-off for voters entering the precincts was at 3 p.m. Any voter entering the precinct beyond 3 p.m. would no longer be accommodated.
Jimenez said voters at the voting precincts before 3 p.m. could have their names listed with members of Namfrel or PPCRV so they could be allowed to vote after the cut-off time.
More than 50 million voters in villages across the country are expected to vote in their respective polling precincts today.
Voters are not required to have a voter’s ID.
Jimenez said they could present any valid identification card should they be asked to verify their identity. /cbb
