A 37-year-old construction worker was killed after he fell from the second floor of a house being constructed in barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City, at dawn yesterday.

Police said Angeles Gravino Jr., 37, a native of Clarin, Bohol province, came from a drinking session with fellow workers when the accident happened around 4 a.m.

The drinking binge ended around 10 p.m.

Jessie dela Cruz, a foreman at the construction site, said they went to sleep after the drinking session except Gravino who was seen roaming around while listening to a radio.

Carley Abayon, another construction worker, said he heard Gravino repeatedly mentioning number combinations “376” while listening to a masiao or jai-alai broadcast at around 3 a.m.

The surroundings were already silent when the workers were awakened by a thud around 4 a.m.

A bloodied Gravino was later found slumped on the ground.

The second floor of the house was about 16 feet high.

Police said there were no indications of foul play in the laborer’s death. /CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
