Isabela village chief killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen

MALLIG, ISABELA – A 56-year-old village chief was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding gunmen in Trinidad village here on Wednesday morning (May 9), police said.

Bartolome Mackay, 56, was the first Isabela village chief to be killed during the election period, according to Senior Supt. Mariano Rodriguez, acting provincial police director.

Mackay was found sprawled on the road at 4:20 a.m. by residents, who raced there after hearing gunshots. The police were tracking down the suspects. VILLAMOR VISAYA JR.
