Grab Philippines welcomed on Tuesday the accreditation of five more transport network vehicle services (TNVS) in the country, saying it would help commuters book a ride easier.
“We’ve always been open to competition. I mean, we welcome competition in any industry,” Cindy Toh, Grab’s country marketing head, said during the launch of the company’s 100-day initiative plan, which seeks to provide better service to riders and lessen the booking cancellation of the drivers.

“The only thing right now we’re looking at is how it actually impacts supply,” Toh explained.
She disclosed that demand can spike up to 600,000 bookings daily, but there are only 35,000 cars available. “So the possible impact of that – with all the new players – is splitting the supply base,” she said.
Grab Philippines Head Brian Cu earlier said that the undersupply of cars causes the price surge and results in less trips for drivers. /ee
