2 killed in Batangas shooting incidents

SAN PEDRO CITY – Two people were killed in separate shootouts with the police in Batangas province.

In Bauan town, drug suspect Gerald Yermo was killed in a buy-bust operation a little past midnight on Tuesday in Barangay (village) Sinala.

Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, director of the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon police, said Yermo tried to sell an undercover police officer illegal drugs when the suspect suddenly drew and fired his gun, prompting the police to shoot back. The suspect died while being taken to Bauan Doctors’ Hospital.

In Ibaan, a still unidentified man was killed by the police at about 9 p.m. Monday in Barangay Sto. Niño.

The police report said a resident alerted the police station about an “armed” person on a motorcycle driving around the vicinity.

Police went to the area to check the report when the man suddenly opened fire at the lawmen.

The gunman was killed when police shot back. A .45 caliber gun was recovered from the suspect, police said. /cbb
