Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo’s husband, Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) board member Roberto Teo, has submitted his resignation after allegations of nepotism and conflict-of-interest.

Lawyer Ferdinand Topacio, Secretary Teo’s legal counsel, disputed claims of nepotism as Roberto Teo was appointed to TIEZA even before the term of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Si Mr. Roberto Teo ay appointed po pala ni Pangulong Aquino, and he has already tendered his resignation effective June 30, 2018,” Topacio said in a Monday interview with DZMM.

“Ngayon po, hindi na po siya a-attend ng board meetings and he is slowly urging President Duterte to [accept] his resignation immediately,” he added.

Roberto Teo has been with TIEZA since 2014.  In June 2017, Duterte also appointed him as a member of the board of directors of government-owned Land Bank of the Philippines.

He also used to be the assistant city administrator of Davao City.
