Leukemia patient needs help

Learish with mom, Leticia.

Leticia Cayetano admits being the last to know something was wrong with her daughter, Learish, in 2015.

“My relatives and neighbors called my attention, telling me she was looking pale and weak. I got worried because she was not telling me anything,” said Cayetano, a resident of Allacapan, Cagayan Valley.

When Learish, now aged 13, complained of difficulty in sleeping and loss of appetite, her mother took her to Philippine Children’s Medical Center in Quezon City, where she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and recommended for chemotherapy.

Of the 12 chemotherapy sessions, Learish has so far completed seven. Each session costs P23,000.

“My husband, Ranie, is a farm laborer in Cagayan province. Thank God there were kindhearted people who helped us along the way,” Cayetano said.

She asked for help from Inquirer readers so that her daughter would be able to complete the prescribed treatment.

Cayetano can be reached at 0975-6699919. Deposits can be made to her BPI bank account (Leticia Cayetano, account number 0129-2771-65).
