LUCENA CITY – Two persons were killed after the tricycle they were riding in collided into a passenger bus in Catanauan town in Quezon province Friday, police reported.
According to Chief Insp. Raul Abenilla, Catanauan police chief, said victim Sancho Manzano was driving his tricycle with his wife Celestina riding at the back along a road in Barangay (village) Matandang Sabang Silangan around 11:25 a.m. when they collided into an oncoming Barney Bus being driven by Jonathan Lachica.
Initial investigation showed that the tricycle was trying to overtake another vehicle when it hit the bus coming from the opposite direction.
Police said the couple sustained serious injuries and died while being taken to the Catanauan District Hospital.
The bus driver fled from the scene and is now being tracked down, police said. /muf
