Calabarzon cop killed in Antipolo ambush

The chief legal officer of the Calabarzon police was killed while his partner was injured in an ambush in Antipolo City on Friday morning.

Recently installed Calabarzon Police Director Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar told the Inquirer that lawyer Supt. Ramy Tagnong was in his red Toyota Innova, when the lone gunman on a red Kawasaki motorcycle, shot his vehicle around 6:40 Barangay Dalig I.

Eleazar said Tagnong was with his 36-year-old live-in partner, Maria Angela Cabaltera Hadap, and both were on their way to Quiapo when the still unidentified assailant attacked them.

Tagnong suffered multiple gunshot wounds while Hadap sustained three bullet wounds in her back and another one in her left arm, police said.

Tagnong was declared dead on arrival at the hospital while Hadap is now in stable condition, according to police.

Authorities were still investigating the incident as of posting.             /kga
