DID YOU KNOW: Filipino women first allowed to vote in 1937

On April 30, 1937, Filipino women were able to vote for the first time in a national plebiscite vote on women’s suffrage.

The condition was for at least 300,000 women to vote in favor of the motion.

A total of 447,725 women or 90 percent of the turnout voted yes. —Marielle Medina
