CBCP condemns Cagayan priest’s murder

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) condemned on Sunday the murder of a Catholic priest in Gattaran town in Cagayan province.

“We condemn this evil act!” Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles, president of the CBCP, said in a statement.

“We make our appeal to the authorities to act swiftly in going after the perpetrators of this crime and to bring them to justice,” he added.

Fr. Mark Ventura, the parish priest of Piña Weste village in Gattaran town, had just finished officiating Mass at the village gymnasium when gunned down by unidentified assailants.
