MORONG, BATAAN—A policeman, who was undergoing a water rescue training course, died on Thursday (April 26) in Barangay (village) Mabayo, according to a belated police report.

Fellow police officers swam for Insp. Richardson Cabigon Umatan, 28, when he suddenly floated in the waters after completing rescue exercises.

A graduate of Philippine National Police Academy Class of 2015, Umatan was given first aid before he was rushed to the James Gordon Memorial Hospital in Olongapo City, where he was declared dead on arrival.

The police have yet to reveal what caused the policeman’s death as investigation is still ongoing. /jpv
