CIDG agent arrested for killing man in Pagadian City
PAGADIAN CITY – Police authorities here on Thursday said they have arrested a civilian agent of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group after being identified as one of four men, who shot and killed a 43-year-old man on Tuesday.
Superintendent Benito Recopuerto, city police chief, said Christopher Galleon, 31, was arrested on Wednesday evening during a manhunt for the assailants of Warlito Basalo.
Basalo was with his wife and another companion when shot by four suspects at the market in Barangay Sta. Lucia here.
Recopuerto said witnesses identified Galleon as among the four men, who fled after killing the victim.
“Galleon was an identified member of the Community Investigative Support (CIS) of the CIDG,” he added.
He said Galleon had denied he shot Basalo but pointed to another man as the killer.
