Unpaid debts eyed in killing of woman inside QC house

/ 05:01 AM April 25, 2018

The newly elected auditor of a homeowners’ association was shot dead in her house at Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City on Sunday night.

The police identified the victim as Maria Theresa Paa, a 57-year-old resident of Livelihood Street, Area C in Talanay. Supt. Rossel Cejas, Batasan police station chief, said the woman’s daughter was awakened by the sound of shots being fired around 7 p.m. and found her mother’s body in the living room.

Investigation showed that Paa had been the subject of several complaints about her unpaid debts.

Her family and other witnesses said her killing might be linked “to her personal debts and her position in the [homeowners’] association,” Cejas told the Inquirer.

Recovered from the crime scene were two cartridges and a deformed bullet. —Jhesset O. Enano
