PCG rescues 6 festival spectators as boat flips in Lanao del Norte

KAUSWAGAN, Lanao del Norte – The Philippine Coast Guard and its auxiliary group rescued six people, among them a child, from a pump-boat that capsized here on Tuesday.

In a report, the PCG said the rescued individuals were among the estimated 2,000 spectators of the Hugyaw sa Kadagatan (sea dancing) festival here.

The Hugyaw sa Kadagatan festival is an annual thanksgiving in honor of San Vicente Ferrer.

The PCG said the rescued persons were all from Iligan City, and that none of them were physically injured in the incident.        /kga
