3 killed in Quezon City fire
Three people were killed while three others sustained minor injuries after fire razed at least 15 houses in Quezon City, an official from the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) said on Tuesday.
Insp. Rosendo Cabillan Jr., of BFP Quezon City, said the three fatalities got trapped in their respective houses when the blaze erupted in Sarmiento Compound in Barangay Pasong Tamo shortly before midnight Monday.
Cabillan identified the victims as Paulina Santos, 55; Rachelle Ann Santos, 24; and Raisel Redito, 10.
Meanwhile, Cabillan identified the three wounded as Juanita Redito, Mark Gabriel, and Antonio Entico. A first aid team present in the area immediately assisted them and treated their minor injuries.
The BFP official said the fire began around 11:43 p.m. and rapidly destroyed the houses, which were made of light materials. Authorities were able to put out the fire around 12:50 a.m. of Tuesday.
Cabillan said investigation is underway to determine the amount of damages as well as the cause of the fire. /kga
