Slay suspect not coerced, NBI says

THE young man accused of murdering his mother wasn’t coerced or manipulated into making his extra-judicial confession where  he committed the crime, the National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas (NBI-7) said yesterday.

NBI-7 agent Bernard dela Cruz said they have photos to prove that 25-year-old Christian “Lucky” Dalangin wasn’t coerced in admitting to the murder.

“It was voluntary. Everything was legal,” Dela Cruz told reporters.

Dela Cruz was presented in court as the  prosecution’s  first witness in the parricide case against Dalangin.

Dalangin earlier confessed to killing his mother Rubirosa in their home in barangay Mambaling, Cebu City, last August.

The remains of his 53-year-old mother were retrieved from a freshly dug hole in  the family’s stock room.  Christian was expected to admit the crime in court since he  executed an extra-judicial confession soon after the discovery.  But during his arraignment, Dalangin entered  a plea of “not guilty.”

Dela Cruz said Dalangin was assisted by lawyer Al Rey Ouano of the Public Attorney’s Office in executing the affidavit.

An aunt of the accused, Vivien Batayola, also witnesses the confession of the accused.

Another hearing is scheduled before Regional Trail Court Judge Gilbert Moises of Branch 18 on Jan. 24 next year. Reporter Ador Vincent Mayol
