The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Thursday welcomed the appointment of Court of Appeals (CA) justice Socorro Inting as commissioner of the polling body.

In a statement, Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said Justice Inting’s “long experience in the judiciary will be an invaluable asset to the Commission.”

Inting will join the Comelec as “it buckles down to the work of both ensuring the success of the 2018 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections and preparing for the rapidly approaching 2019 National and Local Elections,” Jimenez said.

The CA justice replaced recently retired Comelec commissioner Arthur Lim.
