Dela Rosa passes on PNP chief post to Albayalde
After 36 years in service, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa formally retired on Thursday, and passed on his position to National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director General Oscar Albayalde.
President Rodrigo Duterte led the turnover ceremony at the PNP grandstand in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
Dela Rosa and Albayalde were “mistahs” in the Philippine Military Academy Sinagtala Class of 1986.
During the turnover ceremony, Duterte gave Dela Rosa two awards: Medalya ng Katapatan sa Panglilingkod and Philippine Legion of Honor.
Dela Rosa was supposed to retire on January 21, 2018 after reaching the mandatory age of retirement of 56 but was extended by Duterte for three months.
