Napocor boosts power supply in two key Palawan towns
The National Power Corp. (Napocor) has installed four additional 600-kilowatt (kW) open-type generating sets for the power facilities of San Vicente and El Nido in Palawan.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Napocor said this development brings the total dependable capacity of San Vicente Diesel Power Plant to 1,940 kW, which would be sufficient considering its peak demand of 676 kW.
On the other hand, the El Nido Diesel Power Plant will have a total capacity of 4,050 kW to address its 3,825 kW demand.
Both will operate for 24 hours, servicing more than 4,500 families and 500 commercial establishments.
“As a premiere destination among local and foreign tourists, there is a significant increase in power demand in these areas every year,” said Pio Benavidez, Napocor president and chief executive officer.
El Nido is a popular eco-tourism destination, attracting about 200,000 visitors annually.
