Two dead in Argentina as planes collide in air
BUENOS AIRES—Two occupants of a small plane died Monday when their aircraft collided in mid-air with a military aircraft in Argentina, officials said.
Air force Captain Mariano Mohaupt said the planes “collided in the air very close to landing at the aerodrome of Mercedes,” some 100 kilometers (60 miles) west of Buenos Aires.
The two aboard the civilian Cessna 150 died while the two military crew members were unharmed, he added.
The military plane was able to make an emergency landing but the Cessna 150 plunged into a canal near the airfield and was almost completely destroyed by the impact.
