HR officer of Sulu provincial health office gunned down
ZAMBOANGA CITY – Unidentified gunmen shot dead the human resource officer of the Sulu Integrated Provincial Health Office past 7 p.m. Thursday.
The military immediately imposed a lockdown in Jolo town “to possibly apprehend the perpetrators,” according to Brigadier General Cirilito Sobejana, the commander of the Joint Task Force Sulu.
Sobejana said Edmiraldo “Emerald” Sollano Wee was on his way home aboard his motorbike when attacked along Viray Drive in Barangay San Raymundo in Jolo.
He sustained a fatal shot on his head.
The perpetrators also took the 38-year-old victim’s motorcycle.
Article continues after this advertisement“The incident prompted our Special Forces and troopers to respond immediately, cordoned the areas and soldiers of the 35th Infantry Battalion imposed lockdown in Metro Jolo,” Sobejana said.
Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Health Secretary Dr. Kadil Sinoliding Jr. condemned the attack.
“It’s a very sad evening for all health workers of the country. We cry, we mourn and we demand justice,” Sinolinding said.
