Twice weekly free movie screenings for elderly in Las Piñas
Senior citizens in Las Piñas City can now watch movies for free every Monday and Tuesday.
Representatives of SM South Mall, Robinsons Las Piñas and Vista Mall signed a memorandum of agreement last week with Mayor Imelda Aguilar which would grant residents aged 60 and above free entry to their cinemas.
The agreement took effect on April 2. To avail themselves of the offer, qualified residents should get their movie booklets at the city’s Office of Senior Citizens Affairs.
At the same time, Aguilar urged senior citizens to avail themselves of other benefits, including hospitalization support of up to P40,000 per year through the “green card,” discounts in medicine and other basic commodities.
Las Piñas has about 80,000 registered senior citizens with over 5,000 considered indigent and entitled to a P500 monthly allowance from the city government. —Dexter Cabalza
