Briton, 3 Filipinos arrested in drug den raid on Siargao Island

BUTUAN CITY — Authorities arrested on Saturday four persons, including a British national, for marijuana possession and use in General Luna town on Siargao Island.

Chief Insp. Joel Liong, director of the General Luna Municipal Police Station said on Monday that the suspects were arrested during a raid on a suspected drug den in the town.

He identified those arrested 32-year old British national Liam Cox; Fernando Baguinon Dycueco, 54, a barangay councilor in Dapa town; 30-year old Kirby Clet, a native of Iligan City; and 24-year old Rolf Jingle Oraliza Congreso.

Liong said the local police only served as back up to agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Authority (PDEA), who were serving a search warrant.

Seized from the suspects were 500 grams of marijuana with a street value of P185,000.

Liong described Cox as the same foreigner who went viral on social media for riding a carabao in General Luna naked.

“I personally filed a case against Cox for grave scandal. He was the one who organized the naked carabao ride together with other foreign nationals,” he added.

Liong said all four suspects were now under custody of the Caraga Police Regional Office here.

He said charges for violation of the anti-drugs law, particularly section 6 or maintenance of a drug den; section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs); and section 12 (possession of drug paraphernalia) were now being readied against Cox and Clet.

Violation of section 7 of the same law or visiting a drug den was being prepared against Dycueco and Congreso.

Dycueco would also be charged for drug use, according to Liong. /atm
