Twenty-three scheduled weddings on Boracay may be spoiled by the six-month closure of the island resort.
According to a report by the Radyo Inquirer, Fr. Tudd Belandres of the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Parish in Boracay disclosed that 23 weddings were scheduled from April 26 to Oct. 25.
Belandres said no couples have informed the parish that they intend to cancel their wedding. Most of those who scheduled their weddings, while a few were foreigners.
He said that the parish would comply with the government should it instruct them not to accept any more wedding schedules because of the closure.
Usually, newly-weds have their receptions scheduled at Boracay resorts, while many of their guests travel all the way from Metro Manila, Belandres said.

President Rodrigo Duterte approved the proposal of three government agencies to close down the resort island from late April to early October during the 24th Cabinet meeting in Malacañang on April 4.
Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Menardo Guevarra said calamity funds would be activated to help workers affected by the closure.
