Bataan Day, also known as Araw ng Kagitingan or Day of Valor, is a regular holiday in the country in commemoration of the bravery of Filipino and American soldiers who surrendered to Japanese forces during World War II.

It also marks the beginning of the Bataan Death March, where thousands of Filipino and American prisoners of war were forcibly transferred from Bataan to Tarlac by walking about 137 kilometers in six days. /kga
