Authorities have arrested a police officer caught gambling at City of Dreams Resort and Casino in Parañaque City.

In a spot report released on Wednesday, the Southern Police District (SPD) identified the suspect as 35-year-old Supt. Adrian Antonio.

Parañaque City police and casino security guards collared Antonio around 10:55 p.m. on April 3 at the gaming area of City of Dreams.

“The apprehended person was monitored through CCTV inside the Pit Arena of the said establishment and caught in the act of playing baccarat,” the report said.

“Subject (also had) an altercation with another player in the said casino that revealed his true identity,” it added.

Charges for disobedience in violation of Article 231 of the Revised Penal Code, violation of Section 2 of RA 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, and violation of Presidential Decree 1067B were being prepared against Antonio.

According to the report, the cases would be filed before the Parañaque City Prosecutors Office.

“The PNP is once reminding all public officials and employees that they shall discharge their duties and responsibilities with utmost responsibility, integrity, competence and loyalty, act with patriotism and justice and lead modest lives, and uphold public interest over personal interest,” the report said.

“They are forewarned that the authorities would not hesitate to go after erring officials who are not following the rules of law and or directive,” it added. /kga
