Thousands crowd ports to return to Manila after Holy Week

Sea travelers have started flocking to different ports in the country after the Holy Week break.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported about 24,692 passengers were already going back to Metro Manila on Easter Sunday.

In its latest breakdown, the PCG monitored the biggest number of passengers in Southern Tagalog ports wih 6,043 travelers, followed by Western Visayas with 5,95, and Central Visayas with 5,583 passengers.

The PCG also monitored 1,721 passengers in Southern Visayas ports, 1,442 in Northern Mindanao ports, and 1,439 passengers in Eastern Visayas ports.

Meanwhile, 390 passengers have passed through the seaports in South Eastern Mindanao, the PGC added.

No unusual or untoward incident had been reported thus far by the PCG Passenger Assistance Centers in all ports. /cbb
