Probe of PNPA beating backed
Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) alumni supported an investigation of the March 21 beating of at least six cadets that left them injured.
In a statement on Monday, the PNPA Alumni Association Inc. said it condemned the beating, saying “such act has no place in the academy, more so in a civilized society.”
It added that it was wrong to say that acts of violence by senior cadets against their juniors were part of tradition as claimed by at least 20 senior cadets now being probed for beating six juniors after graduation rites.
“What happened was an isolated case and we do not condone such demeanor,” the group added. —Jeannette I. Andrade
