Tropical storm ‘Caloy’ enters PH

Tropical Storm “Caloy” (international name Jelawat) entered the Philippine area of responsibility on Tuesday morning, the state weather bureau said.

The weather disturbance was last spotted 1,015 kilometers east of Surigao City as of 10 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Caloy is not expected to make landfall over the country but moderate to heavy rains are expected within its 550 kilometer diameter.

The storm blew winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 80 kph. It was moving north northwest at 15 kph.    /muf
