A southbound train of the Metro Rail Transit line 3 (MRT-3) offloaded its passengers on Monday morning due to a system failure.

In an advisory, MRT-3 media relations officer Aly Narvaez said 580 passengers were asked to vacate the train at Araneta Center-Cubao Station around 8:29 a.m. due to ATP (Signaling) Error.

The service disruption was caused by “worn out ATP sub-components” particularly the ATP sensor, Narvaez said.

Affected passengers were then loaded on a different train, which arrived four minutes after.

As of 8:37 a.m., there are 12 running trains of the MRT-3, Narvaez said.                 /kga
