After the low pressure area outside the Philippine area of responsibility developed into a tropical depression on Sunday, the weather bureau warned that the weather disturbance might enter the Philippine area of responsibility as Tropical Cyclone “Caloy” and intensify into a tropical storm between Monday and Tuesday.

“Caloy,” however, is not expected to make landfall, though it might intensify further into a severe tropical storm on Wednesday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), in an advisory on Sunday.

Pagasa also said the weather disturbance might even still recurve at the borders of the Philippine area of responsibility.

As of Sunday morning, the center of the tropical depression was estimated at 1,740 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, moving west-northest at 25 kilometers per hour (kph) and packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph.

Over the weekend, the tropical depression still had no direct effect on any part of the country.
