Cancellation of Dimple Star bus trips strands passengers in Mindoro
CITY OF CALAPAN – The cancellation of trips of Dimple Star Transport buses, after an accident that killed 19 passengers, stranded travelers in Mamburao town in Occidental Mindoro province Sunday afternoon.
At least 40 stranded passengers had to be transported by a truck provided by the municipality of Sablayan from Mamburao to other parts of the province, said Arcris Canillo, Sablayan Municipal Disaster Risk and Reduction Management officer, in text messages.
He said a municipal van and a pick-up truck were also ferrying a undetermined number of stranded commuters bound for Sta. Cruz, Caluntaan, Rizal and San Jose.
He said buses from other companies were still available, but these were not enough to serve the influx of people coming home or going for a vacation in Occidental Mindoro for the Holy Week.
Some stranded commuters took tricycle rides from the port at Abra de Ilog to Mamburao, Canillo said. /atm
