Police force on full alert for Holy Week exodus, says Bato

/ 07:09 AM March 24, 2018

Philippine National Police Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa on Friday said the entire police force would be on hand to provide security during the anticipated exodus to the provinces for the Holy Week.

Speaking to reporters during his inspection at the Araneta Center bus terminal in Cubao, Quezon City, to mark the start of the PNP’s Oplan Ligtas Sumvac (safe summer vacation), Dela Rosa called on the PNP’s force multipliers like the barangay tanods and barangay police to forego their own plans and remain on duty.

“Our PNP is on full alert status, meaning 100 percent of our police force is on duty so citizens get to enjoy their vacations,” the PNP chief said.

According to Dela Rosa, village security personnel can conduct patrols in their barangays and subdivisions to act as a deterrent to burglars.   –JEANNETTE I. ANDRADE
