Graduating senior high students in Pampanga get aid
GUAGUA, PAMPANGA—The first batch of senior high school students from Pampanga province who will graduate under the K to 12 program this schoolyear will each get P2,500 to pay for graduation expenses, job hunting costs or college tuition.
Vice Gov. Dennis Pineda said the aid, which the provincial government began to distribute to 11,463 high school students in 79 public schools in the province, totaled P28.6 million.
The amount was sourced from the provincial government’s gender and development fund and approved for release by the provincial board.
The money would give the graduating students “more access to education to increase their opportunities out of poverty,” Pineda said.
The provincial government has supported the college education of 5,568 scholars through a P3,000 aid per semester. —TONETTE OREJAS
