DPWH starts weekend repairs on parts of Edsa

Starting this week until June, motorists should avoid Edsa from 11 p.m. every Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) begins the three-month-long rehabilitation of parts of Metro Manila’s busiest thoroughfare.

According to Jojo Garcia, acting general manager of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), motorists headed for or coming from Quezon City would be affected by the roadworks. To avoid being inconvenienced, he advised them to use the Mabuhay Lanes or other alternative routes.

At 11 p.m. on March 23, several one-lane sections on the northbound lane of Edsa from Mega Q-Mart to the GMA-Kamuning station of the Metro Rail Transit 3 will be closed to traffic.

Affected portion

On the southbound lane, the roadwork will cover several areas on the stretch of Aurora Boulevard to P. Tuazon.

Garcia said the affected areas would become passable to motorists at 5 a.m. on Monday, March 26. He added that the road repairs would be carried out by the DPWH every weekend until June 4.

Garcia assured the public that the MMDA would continue to be relentless in its clearing operations to ensure that motorists would have an alternative route to use for the duration of the roadworks. On average, more than 300,000 motorists use Edsa daily.
