Five teens who were reportedly sexually abused and forced to take illegal drugs were rescued by members of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Friday, during their pursuit of an alleged drug suspect in Payatas.
Police also arrested four men and seven women – most of whom were allegedly caught in the act while sniffing “shabu” (crystal meth) – in a house on Langka Street at around 2:30 p.m.
Members of the QCPD Batasan Station conducted a followup surveillance operation in the area, following reports of rampant motorcycle theft, according to a report to Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, QCPD director.
While on patrol, police officers said they spotted a “notorious” drug peddler identified as Marcelino Safra, 51, at the corner of Langka and Lanzones Streets.
Safra reportedly ran on seeing the cops, even hurling a grenade at them, which turned out to be a dud.
He then hid inside the house of Junairie Decena, 32, but police officers arrested him there.
The chase to Decena’s home, however, led to the discovery of a group of people in a pot session, along with five minors aged 14 to 17.
Initial investigation revealed that four girls and a boy had been given illegal drugs and were forced to have sex.
Seized in the operation were 12 sachets of suspected shabu worth around P30,000, several round of ammunition, and two motorcycles. /atm
