PDEA nabs couple in anti-drug ops in Maguindanao

A couple, who were tagged as high-value targets for allegedly being members of a drug syndicate in Mindanao, had been arrested by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Maguindanao.

PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino, in a report released on Saturday, identified the suspects as Kutin Angkad Guiamel, 52, and Jenny Abdullah Guiamel, 37.

Both suspects were alleged members of the Sabal Drug Group that operates in various areas including Cotabato City, nearby municipalities of Maguindanao and Tacurong, Sultan Kudarat province.

Report showed that the suspects were arrested on March 13 following the issuance of a search warrant addressed at their residence in Barangay Makir, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

Seized from the operation were four sachets of shabu weighing about 20 grams with estimated street value of P100,000, one 9mm Luger Modsker-KG9, two 9mm 30 rounder magazine with 20 live ammunition, drug paraphernalia, mobile phone, identification cards, and several bank documents.

The suspects were charged for violating Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act 10591, or The Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Act. /jpv
