MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Dir. Gen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa called on the victim in the alleged rape in a buy-bust operation in Meycauayan City to surface and explain her side to bring the matter to a close.

“I am encouraging her [to come out], kung talagang totoo o hindi totoo, to set the record straight,” Dela Rosa said in a press briefing here.

The woman, who was the subject of the buy-bust operation on Mar. 6, said that she would no longer press charges against the three policemen and would just “leave it up to the Lord.”

“Ayoko na pong lumaban, gusto ko pong mawala. Wala po akong lakas ng loob, ubos na rin ang dahilan sa kahihiyan. Ano man po ang mangyayari sa amin, ma’am, sir, ipapasa-Diyos ko na lang po ito,” the woman said as read by Sr. Insp. Susan Cullamco, head of Bulacan police children and women’s desk.

(I don’t want to fight anymore. I just want to disappear. I don’t have strength anymore; I’m running out of explanation because of shame. Whatever happens to us, I will leave it up to the Lord.)

Dela Rosa said that even though the woman would no longer file a complaint, the Internal Affairs Service (IAS) would still investigate the incident to find out the truth.

The woman, who was seven months pregnant, accused three policemen—PO2 Jefferson Landrito, PO1 Marlo delos Santos, and PO1 Jeremy Aquino—of raping her in front of her two-year-old child during a buy-bust operation on March 6.

The policemen strongly denied the allegations and demanded that the woman issue a public apology to clear their names.

Dela Rosa said that he would let the policemen file appropriate charges if the allegations would turn out false.

“Gaya nga ng sinabi ko kanina after the investigation lumabas na negative sila, wala silang kasalanan ay unang-una I am encouraging them to file appropriate charges against the complainant,” Dela Rosa said.

(If it is proven at the end of the investigation that they were innocent, I will encourage them to file appropriate charges against the complainant.)

“Pero ngayon narinig ko sa text na ipapasa-Diyos na lang raw niya (But now she said she would just leave it up to the Lord), I don’t know kung gawa-gawa lang niya ‘yon or talagang helpless siya (she just made it up or if she is helpless), I advise you mag-isip isip muna kayo (to ponder on the filing of case),” he added./ac
