Cop assigned in Camp Crame shot dead in Cebu ambush

CEBU CITY — A police officer assigned in Camp Crame in Quezon City was shot dead in an ambush by unidentified assailants on Tuesday afternoon in Barangay Lipata, Minglanilla town, southern Cebu.

PO2 Rome Bolaño, 49, a resident of Talisay City, was inside his vehicle that was parked outside a pawnshop when a Mitsubishi Pajero stopped in front of the driver’s side.

The passengers of the sports utility vehicle then shot Bolaño before the vehicle sped away, said Senior Insp. Verniño Noserale, chief of Minglanilla Police Station.

As of this posting, police have not determined the motive in the killing and the identity of the perpetrators. /atm
