Sereno: ‘We need to ask where Calida’s action is coming from’

Whose hand is behind the move to oust her from office?
Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno said if President Rodrigo Duterte is denying it, “let’s leave it at that.”
“If he said he has no hand, then, let’s leave it at that,” Sereno said in a television interview.
However, she said “we need to ask where Calida’s action is coming from.”
Sereno was referring to Solicitor General Jose Calida who initiated a quo warranto proceeding against her before the Supreme Court.
Calida said the quo warranto petition was an act of kindness because it is better that she be removed from her post by her colleagues instead of politicians.
A quo warranto case is filed to remove an official who is believed to be unqualified in his position.
Calida is the head of the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG), known as the “law office” of the government. The OSG represents the government in all cases filed against it.
