Senator Bam Aquino is urging telecommunication companies (telcos) to provide a notification system on load deductions in a bid to prevent instances of “nakaw load” or the disappearance of load from many subscribers.
Aquino, who chairs the Senate committee on science and technology, said he hopes telcos would follow this solution by the end of March, in time for their next hearing.
“By the next hearing which will be by the end of March, we hope that our telcos will be able to mention na sumusunod na sila sa solusyon na ito; at iyon ay ‘yung bawat load na ibabawas po sa atin, kailangan po mayroon tayong notification at kung nakita natin na hindi tama ito, mayroon tayong oras para i- complain ito at ibalik yung pera po sa atin,” Aquino said in an interview on Monday.
“I think yung naging problema kasi, may mga value added services na hindi naman talaga tayo nag-opt in pero kinakaltasan tayo. May mga panahon na nagugulat na lang tayo, doble o triple yung charge sa atin,” he added.
During the hearing, a representative from Globe said they would consider the suggestion, while a PLDT representative said their subscribers are already receiving notifications when they register to particular services.
While acknowledging that telcos could not commit to the suggestion right away, Aquino insisted that the move would be helpful and would not be costly on the part of telcos.
“Well, to be frank, I don’t think they can commit to that right now. Siyempre, kailangan nilang kausapin ‘yung head office. But informally I think it’s a good solution and I don’t think it will cost much,” he said.
“Hindi naman iyan malaking cost po sa kanila. At the same time, magiging malinaw na po sa ating lahat kung saan po napupunta yung ating pera,” he added. /kga
