Road rage leads to van ramming motorcycle in Pangasinan

DAGUPAN CITY — A motorcycle driven by a businessman was rammed by a passenger van in what has been described as a road rage incident Saturday along the Manila North Road (MNR) in Pozorrubio town in Pangasinan province.

Nino Lorenzo Belardo, of Pasig City, was not seriously hurt when the passenger van rear-ended his Ducati Scrambler bike while traversing the northbound lane in Barangay Bobonan at about 8:30 a.m., according to Chief Insp. Melecio Mina, Pozorrubio police chief.

Mina said the van driver, Sammy Mortera, 49, was irked when Belardo tapped the side of the van and signaled Mortera to slow down to allow other bikers to pass.

Belardo was the sweeper in a convoy of about 20 bikers headed for Baguio City that day. He was with the last three bikers of the group when the incident took place.

Cases of frustrated homicide and damage to property have been filed against Mortera. /cbb
