A robbery suspect was killed in an alleged encounter with police in Caloocan City on Friday. The suspect, known only by the alias “Tangkad,” was killed after being shot at least seven times in an alleged gun battle with police after being cornered following a chase along Appleville, Libis Bukid, Barangay 160, around 1:50 a.m.

A police report said Tangkad and another suspect allegedly robbed 22-year-old Patrize Novio along Edsa.

Responding policemen chased the two motorcycle-riding men and cornered them in a grassy area in Libis Bukid where Tangkad allegedly engaged police in a shootout.

Recovered from the scene were seven fired cartridge cases, two deformed slugs and one .38 revolver allegedly belonging to Tangkad.—KRIXIA SUBINGSUBING
