Virgilio Garcillano of the “Hello Garci” election fraud scandal left his home here with his wife early Saturday, or a day after the arrest of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Garcillano is said to be the election commissioner whose voice was caught in tapped conversations with Arroyo during the presidential election in 2004 that is believed to have been rigged.
Neighbors said the former poll official had left in a car with his wife. But the neighbors were not certain if the couple brought anything with them.
A woman from inside Garcillano’s house said she and her companions were told that the couple would be attending a wedding.
She said she had no idea if the couple would be returning within the day or where the wedding would be held.
